Week Recap for 2/4-2/10
2/5/2019 Premier hosts Boston Bandits
The Premier team fell 4-1 to the Bandits at home on Tuesday. Nick Kuraly put up the Monarchs only goal of the game 5:02 into the 1st, the Bandits immediately responded leaving it tied 1-1 at the end of 1. No goals were scored through the 2nd, and the Bandits dominated in the 3rd with 3 unanswered goals. Hillman and Engdahl both pick up their 16th assists this season. The Premier team now sits at 2-7-0-1 in their last 10 and look to get back on track this Saturday and Sunday vs Rochester Monarchs.
2/6/2019 Elite hosts state rival – Northern Cyclones
The Elite team couldn’t surpass the Cyclones during Wednesday’s matchup, falling 6-2 to the in-state rival. Pakozdi (1G, 1A) and Sutton (2A) both had a 2-point game, while Alexandrov scores the 1st Monarchs goal in the 1st period. Pakozdi’s goal in the 3rd marks his 30th goal this season and 45th assist totaling 75 points in 32 games. Sutton currently has 52 points in 33 games. The Monarchs currently sit in 1st place in the New England Division at 28-6 with 56 points. The Cyclones are tied with 56 points but sit at 27-8-1-1.
2/8/2019 Elite hosts Boston Bandits
The Elite team beat the Boston Bandits 4-3 in OT on Friday. Tyler Sutton had a 3-point game (2G 1A), Matias Alexandrov also had a 3-point game (1G 2A), including the GWG 3:22 into OT. Balint Pakozdi with a 2-point game (2A) and Paul Coats picks up his 8th win of the season. With this win the Elite team now sits 2 points ahead of #2 Northern Cyclones in the New England division with a record of 29-6-1. The Monarchs will travel to Skate 3 to face the Islanders Hockey Club, Monday at 12pm.
2/8/2019 NCDC hosts New Jersey Rockets
Facing for the first time at a home advantage rink, the Monarchs pull away with an OT, 2-1 win over the Rockets Friday night. Connor Amsley (assisted by Chris Lee and Matt Hayes) kept the two teams tied through regulation forcing OT. Lee scores 3:53 into OT after both teams were given penalties for roughing and holding. Lee’s goal marks his 4th point in 4 games since joining the NCDC team on January 27th. Assist for the goal came from Mitch Shaheen, marking his 100th career point in a Monarchs jersey.
2/9/2019 NCDC hosts New Jersey Rockets
The NCDC team picks up 4 valuable points with a sweep over the Rockets. Saturday’s game ended 2-1 for the Monarchs with Pasquale picking up his 15th win this season turning away 34/35 shots. Gregorio Gios and Matias Arppe score the 2 Monarchs goals of the game. Routh, Lamoureux, Crane and Shaheen all have assists. The Monarchs will play 3 games at the final showcase of the season in Foxboro this coming weekend – Thursday vs CT Rangers 2:10pm, Friday vs Rochester Monarchs 2:40pm, and Saturday vs Rockets 2:40pm. The team currently sits in 3rd with 51 points.
2/9/2019-2/10/2019 Premier hosts Rochester Monarchs
The Premier team sweeps Rochester with Saturday’s game ending 5-0 and Sunday’s ending 9-0. 14 different Monarchs players got their name on the scoresheet – Rosser and Barto both had a 4 point weekend, DeRidder and McCoy with 3 points each, Harris, Briere, Smith, Turner, Kuraly, Madrid, Engdahl, Staif and Mercure all with 2 points – 1 G and 1 A each. Derby also had an assist this weekend. The Premier team will faceoff with Bandits in Bridgewater on Wednesday before playing 4 games at the Foxboro showcase. Saturday 7:20pm vs New York Avaitors, Sunday 9:10am vs Philadelphia Hockey Club, Sunday 1:20pm vs Niagara Falls Thunder and ending their regular season Monday at 11:10am vs Connecticut Nighthawks.
