The New Hampshire Junior Monarchs are proud to announce that 1999 Premier defenseman, Sam Turner of Columbus, Ohio has committed to continuing his academic and hockey career at Ohio University for the 2019-2020 season. Turner says he picked Ohio because, “it’s close to home, they have a great business program, amazing campus atmosphere, and a hockey team that competes at a high level every year.” Sam says that Ohio was the best overall choice for his future where he plans to study finance.
The defenseman has 1 goal and 3 assists this season. Turner said, “Playing junior hockey, I think I got a glimpse of the real world that most kids my age don’t get.” He continued, “I have had to manage my time for work and hockey, all while focusing on the bigger goal of making it to college hockey.” Turner has wanted to attend Ohio University since he was a freshman in high school and said, “I think the experiences I gained from this year will give me an advantage as a freshmen” and he is thankful that this year allowed him to gain experience and maturity before continuing his education.
The organization wishes Sam and his family all the best as he continues his hockey and academic career close to home next season!
