Ryan Frew has been coaching in the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs program since 2003,during his 11 year tenure he has been responsible for the advancement of more than 125 players to the NCAA Division I, II and III ranks. He has a lifetime winning percentage of .839% with the ‘Narchs which includes last year’s overall record of 51-12-2-1, one of the most successful campaigns in the storied history of the organization. In 2014, Coach Frew led his team to the first ever Eastern Hockey League regular season championship and on to the leagues championship series. Frew won a USA Hockey Junior National Championship for New Hampshire in 2012. He has always been a winner with the Monarchs organization as evidenced by this past year’s trip to the USA Hockey Junior National Championships marking his 7th visit to the prestigious event.In addition to his duties as the Head Coach of the EHL team, Frew serves as the Director of Junior Hockey Operations for the organization, and is the General Manager to all of the teams in the Monarchs development model.


Ryan is a 2002 graduate of NCAA Division II Southern New Hampshire University where he played all 4 years dating back to the Universities days as New Hampshire College.  He played in the last recognized NCAA DII National Championship game in 1999. Prior to college Frew was a first-team all-stater for the Concord High School Crimson Tide and won 3 state championships during a time that saw the tide roll to a 64-1 record over his 3 years. Frew graduated from college in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Administration and a minor in Travel and Tourism. Coach Frew has led the Jr. Monarchs to the National Championship game on four separate occasions; in addition, his teams have been national semi-finalists twice. While Frew was at the helm in the Empire Junior league, prior to being named Head Coach in the Eastern Junior Hockey League (now the Eastern Hockey League), the Monarchs won two Empire League Championships and a Regular Season Championship under his watch. In addition, he was the General Manager during the programs last Championship run in 2013. Frew earned the opportunity to coach the Empire League All-Stars in 6 of his 8 seasons behind the empire bench.  He earned that same opportunity in 2014 for the Eastern Hockey League All-Stars.


Ryan resides in Manchester, New Hampshire with his Wife Anastasia (Nanna) and their two sons, Quentin (4) and Seamus (3).
