READING, Pa. – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that team has signed forward Ian O’Connor to an Amateur Tryout Agreement. In other transactions completed today, (i) defenseman Jared Ross was returned to the Royals from the Peoria Rivermen of the AHL; (ii) forward Rob Slaney has been activated from the 3-Day Injured Reserve; and (iii) forward Matt Arhontas has been released from his ECHL contract with the Royals. In other transactions completed earlier this week, (i) forward Eric Castonguay was placed on the 7-Day Injured Reserve; and (ii) defenseman Cody Wild was transferred from the 7-Day Injured Reserve to the 21-Day Injured Reserve.
O’Connor (6’0/200) (23), who hails from Londonderry, New Hampshire, led the Providence College Friars with twenty-four points (8g-16a) and thirty-two penalty minutes in thirty-four games. O’Connor, who received the Rev. Herman Schneider Award as the team’s Most Valuable Freshman in his first year with the Friars, registered sixty-two points (26g-36a) and 102 penalty minutes in 135 total college games.
