Hooksett, NH –After a weekend of big wins in Northern Division play against the Bruins and Glades, the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs are preparing for a huge road trip to Syracuse, NY to face the 3rd place Stars.
The Stars are coming off of a tough weekend series against the Valley Junior Warriors in which they lost both games and were overtaken in the standings by a surging Junior Bruins squad. At this point in the season every single game is pivotal, and the Monarchs will be facing a Syracuse team that is fighting to regain their 2nd place position in the North.
With an opportunity to further tighten their grip on the Northern Division lead the Monarchs are not taking the Syracuse Stars lightly. These two programs have always had a competitive rivalry, and with the importance of this weekend’s games and their effects on the Division’s standings, there is sure to be some great hockey played in Syracuse this Saturday and Sunday.
Speaking of great hockey, the league’s annual all-star game was held right here at the Tri-Town Ice Arena this past Monday. The Monarchs were heavily represented in the exhibition with 8 players participating in the game. Brice O’Connor, Jamie Ferullo, Pat Doherty, Brian Billett, Zak Stone, Trevor van Riemsdyk, Jacob Rutt, and Trent Ruffolo were awarded with the honor of playing for their team in this prestigious event. Alex Gacek was also named to the team, but could not play due to injury.
