Monarchs Struggle Offensively
Goalies provide a 1-1-1 weekend

Fitchburg, MA The New Hampshire Monarchs captured three points on the weekend despite scoring only four goals in three games.  Thursday resulted in a 1-0 loss to Bay State, Friday a 2-1 win over South Shore, and Sunday a 2-2 draw with the Valley Jr Warriors.  Rence Coassin scored two of the teams’ goals with Graham Sisson and Adam Kaiser notching one each.  Both Justin Gates and James Mello were terrific in net with Gates stopping 24 of 25 in the 1-0 loss and 20 of 22 in the 2-2 tie.  Mello picked up the 2-1 win against South Shore with 25 saves.

“Our goaltending was excellent on the weekend and our defensive corps was equally strong,” stated GM/Head Coach Sean Tremblay.  “We need more from our forwards if we are going to get the job done each night.  Some of them are trying to be too cute and looking to make one more play rather than simply get the puck to the net.  We also miss way too many chances to put pucks away either by holding it too long or flat out missing an open net.  We’ll spend some time this week on some scoring situations and hopefully see the results this coming weekend when we play three games in four days for the second straight week.”

The Monarchs make their annual journey to Phillips Exeter Academy for a 7:30pm game with the Junior Bruins.  They then host two games at the Tri Town Ice Arena in Hooksett as they take on the New England Falcons Friday at 7:45pm and the Valley Jr Warriors Sunday at 2:20pm.
