The NCDC team opened their weekend series versus the Rockets Hockey Club in Bridgewater, NJ on Saturday. The Rockets took the first two scoring opportunities in the game, leaving the Monarchs trailing 2-0, 12 minutes into the 1st period. CJ Duvall put the Monarchs on the board 12:03 into the period. Colton Friesen tied the game with 13 seconds left in the 1st. JJ Berdal puts the GWG in the net during the 2nd, and Kevin Paganini sealed the deal with an empty net goal in the 3rd. Matt Pasquale got his second win of the season, leaving him 2-1 this season.

In a game that could have gone either way, the Monarchs came up with a weekend sweep over the Rockets. The score was 1-0 early in the game in the Rockets favor until Tanner Daniels grabbed his 2nd goal of the season 12:22 into the 1st. The Rockets took no time answering though and had a 2-1 lead at the end of the period. Colton Friesen for the second night in a row put one in the net to tie the game, followed by Riley Enderle to give the Monarchs a 3-2 lead. The Rockets would tie the game 9:57 into the period, but Friesen would add another for a 4-3 lead. To keep the back and forth pattern going, the Rockets add another 17:18 into the period. Evan Pringle puts one in with 10 seconds remaining in the 2nd, his 2nd of the season extending the lead 5-4. The teams battled in the 3rd, Paganini grabs his 3rd goal of the season which would extend the lead again 6-4. The Rockets would again answer leaving the score 6-5 and a very intense minute and a half left to the game. Wil Crane would then dump one into an empty net with 10 seconds remaining and finish the game 7-5. Jani Rauhala picks up his first win in net saving 33 of the 38 shots he faced.
The NCDC team will practice this week, continue to meet with their schools for the Adopt-A-School program this season, and volunteer with the youth program. Friday night the team will return home for the first time this season. The Home Opener will consist of a t-shirt giveaway, mechanical bull, $2 draft at the café, Miss NH and an electric atmosphere at Tri-Town. The action starts at 7:10 versus the Islanders Hockey Club.
