Monarchs take 3 of 4 from Hitmen

Hooksett, NH – The New Hampshire Jr Monarchs earned a tie and a win in a two-game series with the Jersey Hitmen. Both games were high scoring affairs as twenty-one goals were scored with a 5-5 tie and a 6-5 Monarchs win.
Game One had the Monarchs down 5-3, but Jeff Hannan continued his strong play with two third period goals giving him a hat trick on the night. Matt Mangene had a goal and three assists, Adam Kaiser added three assists, and Adam Shemansky added the other goal. Pontus Hansson started in goal, but was relieved by Nick Therrien after surrendering two goals half way through the first. Therrien stopped 23 of 26 he faced in earning the tie.

Game Two started with the Monarchs down again, but Kelen Corkum’s natural hat trick pulled the Monarchs within one at 4-3. The Hitmen would make it 5-3 before a Charlie Mullan tally and Adam Kaiser’s shorthanded goal knotted things at 5-5 after two periods of play. Brian Dumoulin would net the game winning goal at the 11:13 mark and it would hold up for the 6-5 victory. Connor Shannon picked up his first EJHL win stopping 35 of 40 shots.
