The New Hampshire Junior Monarchs collected 4 out of a possible 6 points this past weekend at the Junior Bruins Showcase in Marlboro, MA.
The club had a difficult draw on Saturday of the tournament, as they would have 2 games, with the first being played at 11 am against the Capital District Selects. They would have little difficulty ousting the Selects as the Monarchs would win by a score of 8-1, with 7 players notching multi-point games. Joe Agliato would pace the team with a 3-point performance, while Cam Brown (2g), Brian Morgan (2g), Connor Tommey (1g, 1a), Ryan Randall (2a), Tommy Thompson (2a), and Andrew Balzafiore (2a) would all add 2 points apiece.
Later in the day, the team would face their perennial rival, the Jersey Hitmen. It would seem as if the morning’s game had taken a lot out of the Monarchs though unfortunately as they would never seem to have the jump that the Hitmen had all game. They would lose by a score of 4-1 in the first of the teams’ 3 meetings this season.
Determined to put the loss to the Hitmen behind them, the Monarchs came out Sunday afternoon against the Springfield Pics and answered an early Pics goal with 8 of their own. The team would prevail by a score of 8-2 and once again there would be 7 multi-point scorers, with Connor Toomey leading all scorers with 1 goal and 2 assists
The Monarchs have a busy weekend as they travel north to Vermont to face the Glades. The team will be heading to the Ice Haus at Jay Peak for 2 games, and will also be taking part in a team building golf tournament at the resort’s championship golf course.
