Hooksett, NH – The New Hampshire Jr Monarchs jumped out to a 3-0 lead and played a solid game ending in a 5-2 victory over the visiting Capital District Selects. Big Brooks Herrington started the scoring picking up a loose puck in the slot and snapping one top shelf just 2:17 into the game. The Monarchs would storm the Selects end and at the 7:10 mark put up a power play goal their only power play of the evening. Jamie Ferullo would dish a pass to Kelen Corkum who fired a shot on goal resulting in a rebound that Pat Kiley fired past helpless Tim Carr. A similar goal would come a few minutes later with Kyle Mountain putting home a rebound with Zach Menard and Matt Mangene assisting on the play. CD would strike before the half when Robbie Donahue fired a wrister over the glove of Pontus Hansson.
In the second Jeff Hannan continued his hot play finishing off a great 2×1 from Matt Mangene for a shorthanded goal. Ryan Corcoran also assisted on the goal. CD would get back on the board when Josh Brooks fired one into an open as Hansson was interfered with before the shot was taken. The Monarchs quickly answered when 40-seconds later Zach Menard took a Kyle Mountain feed and one-timed it past Carr for the exclamation point. Brian Dumoulin also assisted on the Monarchs 5ht goal. Hansson played well stopping 18 shots while Carr kicked away 29.
