Hooksett, NH –Every year at this time, the NHL’s Central Scouting office puts together a comprehensive list of draft eligible players and ranks them. The scouts rank the top 210 North American skaters, the top 30 North American goaltenders, the 148 top European skaters and the 12 best European goalies. This year the Monarchs have 3 players on that list. Central Scouting has recognized Brian Dumoulin, Brooks Herrington, and Kelen Corkum as players who have a legitimate chance of being chosen in this year’s NHL Entry Draft.
Kelen was placed in the Limited Viewing category based on the fact that many scouts have not had a chance to see him play this season due to his injury. Herrington was listed at number 193, but he could make a significant jump if he continues to develop at the pace he was in the season’s first half. Dumoulin was the highest ranked player currently playing in the EJHL at number 64. A strong second half could possibly make Dumoulin a 3rd round draft pick, or even higher, when the time comes for players to be selected.
This year’s draft will be held in June at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. It will be the 47th NHL Entry Draft.
